First found in Breconshire where they claim descendance from Owen Glendower, Lord of Glyndwyrdwy, Prince of South Wales.Some of the first settlers of this name or some of its variants were: Henry Thomas who settled in Harbour Grace, Newfoundland, in 1685; Jacob Thomas a carpenter of St. John's, Newfoundland, settled in 1794; Evan Thomas settled in Virginia in 1653.
